Slovak Sinfonietta
Presenting the Slovak Sinfonietta of Zilina in its Canadian debut tour: Monday, May 3, 2010, 8 p.m. at the Glenn Gould Studio, 250 Front St. W. in Toronto. with Maestro Kerry Stratton, pianists Haiou Zhang and Elaine Kwon, in Concertos by Beethoven & Rubinstein.
Maestro Kerry Stratton travels to Slovakia to rehearse the orchestra in late April, conducting it in Bojnice before touring with it in Canada. Kerry Stratton will report on his European travels on Classical 96.3 in late April, prior to beginning the Canadian tour. Classical 96.3 will also feature pianist Haiou Zhang in a 20-minute performance-interview Friday, April 30 at 1:20 p.m. The Sinfonietta performs in Milton (April 30); Barrie (May 1); Markham (May 2); Toronto (May 3); Richmond Hill (May 5); Niagara Falls (May 8); and Orillia (May 9). Haiou Zhang joins the orchestra on the tour, playing the Emperor Concerto.
